This Land is Our Land

I can remember back some 21 years ago, when I first came to Israel. At that time I didn’t know anything about anything: Israel was still, more or less, a foreign country. At that time I had no intentions of making Aliyah; my mind was set on studying law in the US. But I can distinctly remember during the many […]

The Ways of the Righteous

Hebron-Past, Present and ForeverThe Ways of the Righteous September 6, 1995 If yesterday I wrote about Satan dressed up as humans, today I am obligated to speak about the other side. There were soldiers where soldiers usually aren’t posted, there were buses of miltary and border police stationed across from the enterance to the Avraham Avinu neighborhood and in other parts of Hebron. A Time to Cry – A Time to Laugh

The past week has been extremely turbulent. The struggle over the Dagan Hill in Efrat, and the addition to Beit El, climaxed with the arrest, detention and release of Efrat’s Rabbi Shlomo Riskin. Rabbi Riskin, having left the Lincoln Square Synagogue pulpit in Manhattan, for the Biblical landscape of the Judean Hills, is never far from productivity, or controversy. He […]

Question Mark

This week (July 13-21, 1995) has been one of the more difficult sets of seven days that we have experienced this summer: the murder of two 19 year old men by “peace-loving” Hamas, who, according to some Israelis were actually justified in what they did – Major General Ilan Biran stated that Wadi Kelt is closed to Israeli tourists because […]
