LAND FOR PEACE OR PEACE FOR PEACE

Exactly 20 years ago, Rosh HaShana eve, about 11:30 pm. I was downstairs at Beit Hadassah, near the museum, taking a look at emergency supplies with my friend Uri Karzen, when it started. Massive shooting. Unlike anything we’d heard before.

The Dark Before the Light

The Dark Before the LightNov. 3, 2000 Frequently I’m asked, “it looks to be so dangerous in Hebron – why don’t you move somewhere else?” A few days ago I answered that we had considered just that, perhaps moving to Gilo in Jerusalem. The journalist looked at me, and hearing my tone of voice said, “OK, I understand.” There are […]

Red Light, Green Light October 3, 2000 Purim, March, 1997 – three and a half years ago, just 2 months after implementation of the abysmal Hebron accords, then Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu “opened” the tunnel in Jerusalem.  So began the first open warfare between Arafat’s Palestinian Authority and the State of Israel. Arafat’s henchmen, dressed up as soldiers, and recognized […]

The Deep Dark Secret of Camp David July 28, 2000 Upon his return from the US, PM Barak emphasized: “We were not prepared to relinquish three things: the security of Israel, those things that are holy to Israel, and the unity of the our People”. Who does he think he’s fooling? I don’t know how Barak defines unity. Does he […]

The Great Rape

The Great Rape July 14, 2000 The following story has been running through my head for the past few days:  Many years ago lived Rabbi Amnon from Meintz, the spiritual leader of his community.  He was approached, time after time, by gentile ministers and the gentile ruler, who beseeched him to convert to their religion. He refused. One day, when […]
