Eli and Dina Horowitz

Eli and Dina Horowitz March 8, 2003 Shalom. I met Mrs. Bernice Wolff a number of years ago. She came over from the United States, bought an apartment in Ma’ale Adumim, and spent a lot of time here in Israel, visiting her family. Every time I met her she would launch into a succinct political analysis, always aware of what […]

No Question Marks

No Question Marks March 3, 2003 Shalom. As all the newspaper headlines heralded, the new government is off and running. For the last week or so politicians, commentators, religious leaders and others have had a field day – why Shinui and not Shas, how could the National Religious Party participate in the same government with the anti-religious Shinui, why is the […]

The Roots of Tel Rumeida

The Roots of Tel Rumeida February 24, 2003 Shalom. Yesterday, the Israeli Supreme Court, sitting as the High Court of Justice, halted construction of new apartments in the Tel Rumeida-Admot Yishai neighborhood. The Choice is Ours

The Choice is Ours January 27, 2003 Shalom. So, tomorrow are the elections. According to political commentators and, even without them, the general feeling in the air, is that this campaign has been relatively painless. As Kol Yisrael analyst Hanan Crystal said this morning, there’s no hate between the parties, it’s as if everyone knew the results before the game […]

The Witch’s Looking Glass

The Witch’s Looking Glass January 6, 2002 Shalom. Sometimes we lose touch with reality – attempting to see what doesn’t exist. Then, all of a sudden, we find ourselves woken up, abruptly, thrown on the floor, not by a bad dream, but by another one of those horrendous explosions. Last night, again, a ‘double suicide attack,’ each of the murderers […]

A Perfect Example

A Perfect ExampleDec. 25, 2002 Shalom. These days it’s not difficult to be upset. We have a Prime Minister who’s talking about a Palestinian State. The other candidate for Prime Minister is talking about uprooting over 30,000 people the first year of his premiership, including all of the Gaza-Gush Katif communities, as well as Hebron and Kiryat Arba. The killing […]
